He sure did take his sweet time to get here! Five days past my due date, 24 hours after my water broke, and 1.5 hours of pushing later, Henry made is grand entrance into the world. It was the most amazing moment of my entire life! It wasn't as painless as I had hoped, but with the help of my husband, my doula, and hypnobirthing, it was a wonderful birth experience. He is beautiful and perfect and we are overjoyed!
He is now ten days old and is turning out to be a very good baby. We are so lucky! He sleeps, eats, and poops a lot and he is very alert when he is awake. Surprisingly, he only wakes up to feed during the night and then goes right back to sleep! What a good baby! Speaking of feeding, breastfeeding is going very well. It took a little while to get used to it, but now that I am getting the hang of it, it is so much more convenient (not to mention better for the baby and much cheaper) than using formula. My advice to new moms is to get help if you think you need it and to persevere! It's worth it!
Cloth diapers are going well, although they are a bit bulky on him because he is so tiny. I can't wait until he is big enough to wear his bumgenius diapers, because those are much trimmer than using fitted diapers with a cover. Also, we have to use disposables sometimes because we don't have enough newborn cloth diapers! Oops!
