He's still just a bit too young for a schedule, but we have been able to establish his bedtime at 7:30 pm. Every other day we give him a bath just before bed, and he goes down fairly easily, sleeping the entire night (apart from feeding every 2-4 hours) until waking at about 6 am.
During the day, his schedule is still a bit erratic. He always has a nap shortly after waking in the morning, but after that I do my best to read his cues and follow what he needs, which is different every day. It's hard because sometimes he is awake and alert for 2 hours, other times he seems ready to go back down for a nap after only 20 minutes. One thing that is good is that he has become way more quick and efficient at breastfeeding. He takes only about 5-10 minutes per feeding.
Milestones:
- smiling and squealing!
- lifts head 45 degrees when lying on stomach, and sometimes even raises his chest too
- can follow an object above the midline (at 1 month he could only follow an object straight in front of him, now he can look up and follow!)
- briefly holds rattle (but doesn't reach for it yet)
- makes cooing noises
- holds head steady when upright
- can support body weight on legs
- kicks legs energetically
